Times Square stretches from West 42nd Street to West 47th Street and is found at the junction between Seventh Avenue and Broadway. It is famous for its illuminated publicities and appearances in many Hollywood films.

This famous square was known as Longacre Square up until 1904, but it was changed to Times Square after The New York Times offices. Today, many popular TV channels such as ABC and MTV have their TV studios in Times Square and there are also many shops such as Virgin Records, Toys R Us and the Wax Works Museum, Madame Tussauds surrounding it.

Times Square is busy both by day and by night, but it is particularly striking at night with its illuminated advertisements. If you visit Times Square at night or at the weekend you should take a walk down Eighth Avenue where you will find lots of restaurants and bars where you can have a drink or something to eat.
