Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre was founded by American actor and director, Sam Wanamaker, and shows Shakespeare performances. The theatre was opened in 1997 and is an accurate reproduction of the 1599 open-air playhouse where Shakespeare directed most of his plays.

The Globe is divided into three different areas: the first is the theatre itself, the second is Globe Education, which is a forum for young people, and the third is Shakespeare’s Globe Exhibition. The shows that take place at the Globe today are very similar to those performed over four hundred years ago.
