Blackford Hill

The Royal Observatory in Edinburgh is not only used by a university astronomy research group but it is also a visitor centre which is located on Blackford Hill.

You should go to the Royal Observatory in Edinburgh if you interested in astronomy and there are guided tours of the building which include seeing the dome with one of the largest telescopes in Scotland.

During the summer months you will be able to view the sun during the day by using the sun telescope and during the winter you can see the stars using the outdoor telescope. The visit includes a presentation about the solar system and a collection of asteroids.
