The Royal Mile is the street which runs from Edinburgh Castle to The Palace of Holyroodhouse, otherwise known as Holyrood Palace.

There are many tourist attractions along this street starting with Edinburgh Castle at the top of the hill, passing by Camera Obscura, the Writers’ Museum and St Giles’ Cathedral along the way and ending at Holyrood Palace at the bottom. Another interesting attraction along the famous mile stretch is the People’s Story Museum which retells the life of Scots over the past centuries.

There are many pubs, shops and restaurants along the Royal Mile as it is the main thoroughfare in the city and this is what gives the street its traditional atmosphere.
