The International Museum of the Red Cross and Red Crescent  is undoubtedly one of the most visited and one of the most popular museums in Geneva. Located on Geneva’s Right Bank, this museum retraces the history of the Red Cross – the world’s first humanitarian organisation which was founded in 1864 by General Henri Dunant.

Find out what life was like during war before this organisation was established and when individual acts of mercy, such as that of Florence Nightingale, were the only form of aid. Learn about General Henri Dunant’s horrific experience at the Battle of Solferino on 24 June 1859 which encouraged him to set up the Red Cross to provide aid for soldiers in war.

This museum is designed for adults and children with photos, films, sculptures, soundtracks – all of which make learning fun and interactive.
