Lovers of famous masterpieces and antiquity should visit Geneva’s Art and History Museum. This gallery is located in the Old Town in Geneva and is the largest museum in the city. The collection includes over one million pieces which range from paintings and sculptures, as well as archaeological objects and weaponry.

The museum’s collection is divided into three displays: Archaeology, Fine Arts and Applied Arts. The Archaeology collection displays relics from ancient Greece, Egypt and Rome. Masterpieces by the likes of Renoir and Vincent Van Gogh are on show in the Fine Arts collection and there is an assortment of furniture and other objects from the Middle Ages on display in the Applied Arts gallery.

The museum is closed on Mondays and entrance to the permanent exhibition is free.
