Calle San AugustĂn 22, La Laguna, Tenerife

The History Museum in Tenerife is located in Lercaro House (Casa Lercaro) in La Laguna and it was opened in December 1993. The building which houses the museum was built for the Lercaro family between the 16th and 18th centuries and today it is used as a museum which shows the socioeconomic and cultural development which took place in the Canary Islands between the 15th and 20th centuries.

On entering the museum you will step back in time to see the typical 16th century Canarian architecture of houses built during that period, and there are 11 exhibition rooms in the museum which display documents, paintings, literature and films explaining something of the islands´ past.

It is planned to expand the museum by converting Casa Saavedra which adjoins Casa Lercaro, into a further exhibition.
