Carrer del Palau Reial s/n, Palma de Mallorca

Almundania Palace was a former Muslim castle which was built in the 13th century to protect Palma de Majorca and its inhabitants. It was later converted in a royal residence and called Almudania Palace, which was to be used by the Majorcan Monarchy. It is located in front of Palma Cathedral and today it is used as a summer residence and the venue for some official ceremonies by the King of Spain.

Part of the building is occupied by the army and so only a few rooms of the palace can be visited. However, a tour of this beautiful Gothic palace will reveal something of Majorca’s history as it takes you through the Gothic chapel, Santa Ana Chapel, and the palace gardens where you will see sculptures by MirĂ³ and Calder.

The palace is open from Monday to Saturday.
