Plaza de Isabel II

Located in front of the Spanish Royal Palace is the Teatro Real de Madrid (The Royal Opera House), which was built in the 19th century so that Royal Family and the aristocracy of that period could watch theatrical performances.

Today, the Teatro Real is mainly used to host operas, although there are also ballet and classical music concerts. Guided tours are available and provide a unique chance to see the architecture of this grand theatreĀ  in Madrid if you don’t have the opportunity or time to go and see a performance.
