Paseo del Prado

The Prado Museum is one of the most important art galleries in the world which was founded in 1819 and hosts a collection of more than 9,000 works of art which date from the 11th to the 18th century. However, there are only 1,500 paintings in the permanent collection as there is limited space in the museum.

Apart from the wide collection of paintings, you can also view sculptures, drawings and coins.
Some of the highlights at the Prado Museum are Las Meninas, by Velázquez, Goya’s famous paintings of the majas and El Bosco’s El Jardín de las Delicias. It also hosts other paintings by renowned artists such as Andrea Mantega, Botticelli, Rubens, Murillo, Goya, Rembrandt and El Greco.
