Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza Paseo del Prado, 8 Madrid Located in the former Villaermosa Palace which was built in the 18th century, is the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum. This museum hosts one of the largest private art collections in the world which belonged to Hans Heinrich Thyssen-Bornemisza who donated the paintings to the Spanish government in 1988. Altogether, the permanent collection includes over 700 paintings with artistic works which date from the 14th to the 20th century and some of the masterpieces on show are the works of famous artists such as Caravaggio, Van Gogh, Gauguin, Monet, Picasso and Kandinsky. There is also a collection of works belonging to the Baroness Thyssen and the museum hosts three temporary exhibitions, conferences and educational programmes over the course of the year.
