Formentera is the smallest island which forms part of the Balearic Islands and it is located around three nautical miles from Ibiza. There are about 8,000 inhabitants on the island and it is around 32.14 square miles. Tourism on the island started in the 1960s as it was the birthplace of the hippy movement who had not yet discovered the overrated clubs in Ibiza. Some of the most recommended beaches on the island are llletes, and some of the main villages on the island are Sant Francesc Xavier, Sant Ferran des ses Roques and El Pilar de la Mola.

You can take the ferry from Ibiza to Formentera which will leave you in Savina, the only port on the island. At this arrival point you will find lots of places to hire bicycles or motorbikes.
