Pla├ža de la Catedral, Eivissa.

Towering over Dalt Vila and located beside Ibiza Castle is the city cathedral which is dedicated to Our Lady of the Snow, which is ironic as the city has probably never even seen a drop of snow.

The cathedral was built by Catalan troops around 1235 who promised that they would construct the church if they were to succeed in conquering Ibiza. The cathedral as it stands today is witness to a promise fulfilled. At nightfall the cathedral is lit up and it is a spectacular feature in the city, surrounded by the old city walls.

You can probably visit the cathedral in an hour and it will give you the chance to see its wonderful 14th century Gothic architecture which is typical in Spain. Entry to the building is free and it is open every day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. except on Mondays.
