Las Canteras is the main urban beach in Gran Canaria and it is located in the north-east in the capital, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Its fantastic climate, which according to the University of Siracusa in New York is said to be the "best in the world," means that there is beach weather all year round.

The beach is around 3,000m long and 50m wide and it is lined with cafes, restaurants and hotels which means you can enjoy a cool drink, lunch time snack or evening meal after a day in the sun. Las Canteras is great for families with lots of safety measures, lifeguards and it has a natural reef which acts a barrier against strong currents and waves, so you can rest assured that your family is in safe hands at this beach.

There are also water sport facilities at Las Canteras and you can take surfing, body boarding or windsurfing lessons, hire a hammock or clean off at the outdoor showering facilities.
