The climate in Alicante is typical of coastal Mediterranean regions in the South of Spain. The temperature during the main tourist season of May to September ranges from the mid 20s (°C) to almost 40. Alicante experiences dry and sunny weather for the majority of the summer.

The Alicante region is protected from much of the rain by the mountainous regions to the West and North. This rainfall is light, falling mostly in Spring and Autumn. A little snow occasionally falls in areas inland at higher elevations when cold snaps occur in the winter months. The coastal areas however are rarely affected by severe cold as temperatures below 10°C are unusual.

Water temperatures vary from 14°C in January to 24°C in August.
