Saint George Castle is located on the highest hill in Lisbon and is located in the historic centre. It was used by the Romans, Visigoths and Arabs and was the king’s residence until the 15th century. In the 1940s the castle was renovated and today it is possible to walk around its walls and gardens, taking in the marvellous views of Lisbon and the Atlantic Ocean.

Visit the castle and see its royal chapel, main square with canons and statues and famous Moniz door. You can learn about its history in the multimedia presentations held and during the summer, the castle is used as the venue for festivals.
