Take a wander through the centre of Lisbon and you will discover the four districts in the city: Baixa, Alfama, Barrio Alto and Barrio de Belém. The heart of the city lies in Baixa, a commercial district built on the ruins of the old city following the 1755 earthquake. On every street corner of Lisbon you will find monuments, squares such as Praça do Comércio and Elevador de Santa Justa.

Listen to Fados Melodies and head in the direction of Alfama, an old district where you will find Lisbon Cathedral and Saint George’s Castle. The Barrio Alto – Upper District with its old, steep streets is where you will find the commercial district and the best nightlife in the city.

Belém is the historic centre of the city. Its streets will lead you to the famous Hieronymites Monastery, which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. One of the most renowned buildings in this district is Belém Tower.
