Located at Hobson Wharf in Auckland is New Zealand’s National Maritime Museum. This museum was opened to celebrate and boast New Zealand’s rich maritime heritage. It has displays which attribute the very first expeditions made to New Zealand by Polynesian explorers, right through to modern seafaring. You will be able to see nautical and historical artefacts relating to European Voyages of Discovery, Settlement and Immigration, Whaling and Sealing, and Navigation and Marine Surveying, to name but a few.

The New Zealand National Maritime Museum is open every day, except Christmas Day, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. It is recommended that you allow at least 3 hours to visit the museum.
