The Auckland Museum of Transport and Technology was established in 1964 and has over 300,000 pieces in its collection. You will be able to enjoy racing cars, trains, fire engines, World War 2 planes and much more. The museum is so big, they have provided a tram for you to get from one site to the other.

The other site is a hangar, where they keep various Lockheeds, a Lancaster bomber and a gigantic flying boat amongst many smaller planes. Here, they also display the steam trains, tanks, motorbikes, artillery and other assorted military vehicles.

Together with this comprehensive coverage of New Zealand’s transport history, is a children’s play area. Here they have a mirror maze, a pitch black, "touch zone" where they must use their other senses to get around, and an area with simulators and video games.

MOTAT is open from 10 a.m. to 6p.m., every day of the year except Christmas Day.
