Stedelijk museum was opened in 1895 and hosts a collection of Dutch modern art. When it first opened, it displayed a collection of antiques, coins, jewellery and other objects and today it hosts modern and contemporary artwork. The museum is temporarily located in what was a former clothing factory and it will be relocated in 2008.
