Dam Square
Amsterdam

If Oude kerk is the Old Church, then Nieuwe kerk is the New Church which is mainly used for exhibitions, weddings, inaugurations of the royal family and as a coffee shop. Construction of the church started at the end of the 14th century and was completed in the 17th century; the process was prolonged due to fires in the church. The bodies of various people who have played an important role in Dutch history are buried in this church.

Nieuwe kerk is situated in Dam Square beside the Dutch Royal Palace. Coronation ceremonies have been held in this church. There are guided tours of the building and you can also go and see one of the temporary exhibitions held at the church.
