The Ecological Park in Xochimilco was built with the aim of protecting endangered plants and animals in that area of Mexico City. Today, this park is open to the public and is a popular tourist attraction as it provides a calm and relaxing alternative to the stress of Mexico City.

The park covers around 570 acres of land, a fifth of which is covered with water. This is a beautiful park with lots to see such as rivers, swamps and canals which shelter birds and other animals. While at the park you should take the opportunity to hire one of the brightly coloured boats known as trajinera which will take you on a trip along one of the canals lined with mariachi musicians and street sellers.

The ecological park is not only the peaceful, environmentally friendly home of many animals but also a place of fun and excitement for all. Hire bicycles within the park and discover every corner of this green oasis, let the little ones play in the recreational area or enjoy a ride on the panoramic train which offers guided visits and beautiful views of the area. You decide. The park is also home to a nature reserve for birds, a Botanic Garden, the Xochitla Garden and lots more.

If you like nature you must go to this park which will give you a great opportunity to ride along one of the 14 canals and discover nature at its very best.
