Dionysiou Areopagitou

Located in Makrigianni in Athens is the Theatre of Dionysus ….a venue used for the Festival of Great Dionysos.

This building was constructed between 342 and 326 BC by Lycurgus and could seat 17,000 spectators. Of the 64 tiers in the theatre, only 20 remain today. This is a magnificent monument which reflects the importance of theatre in Athens both in the past and today.
