The New Acropolis Museum replaces the former Acropolis Museum which was opened in 1876. It houses the old museums collection, as well as other archaeological findings uncovered from the Acropolis site in Athens.

The new museum is housed in a €129 million building which was designed by the Swiss-American architect, Bernard Tschumi. It is described as one of the most important museums in the world and displays masterpieces of ancient Greek art and ancient artefacts from the Acropolis site.

One of the most popular features at the museum is the glass floor where you can see the most recent findings uncovered when constructing the museum building. This is located on the ground floor of the museum. Other popular areas in the museum are the multimedia auditorium and the Archaic Gallery.
