Pfaueninsel,
Berlin-Wannsee

King Frederick William II acquired Peacock Island in 1793 and he converted it into an exotic oasis with a palace and landscaped gardens with trees, exotic plants and lots of winding paths. A rose garden was also designed for the garden and a collection of animals were placed on the island which today form the zoo.

Frederick William II put 35 peacocks on the island and this is where it got its name from. You will need to take a ferry to get to Peacock Island, but once you get there you will be able to enjoy the peaceful gardens, and explore nature at its best.
