The New National Gallery in Berlin houses a European collection of paintings and sculptures from the 20th century. It includes paintings by artists as famous as Munch, Picasso, Klee, Kirchner and Dalí. The Potsdamer Platz is one of most renowned paintings in the collection. It is a picture of nightlife in Berlin and was painted by Kirchner in 1914.

The permanent collection includes various masterpieces and art movements from the 20th century such as cubism, expressionism, Bauhaus and surrealism. The museum also houses some of the most important temporary exhibitions in Berlin.

The museum is located in a building known as the Temple of Light and Glass which is a Mies van der Rohe design and is renowned for its architecture. It houses more than 2,000 works of art and was opened in 1968 before the fall of the Berlin Wall.
