Holocaust Memorial in Berlin Cora-Berliner-Straße 1 Berlin The Holocaust Memorial was built to commemorate the Jewish victims of the Holocaust and is situated in the centre of Berlin. It is a vast monument which was opened in 2005 after much controversy regarding its design and construction. It consists of a Field of Stelae made up of 2,711 concrete blocks and covers an area of 19,000 square metres. It was designed by the US architect Peter Eisenman and took two years to build, and there is also an underground information centre. The Holocaust Memorial, situated in the centre of the German capital, is very close to the German Parliament (Reichstag), Brandenburg Gate and is linked to the Tiergarten Park.
