The Orsay Museum is a public museum which was opened in 1986 in the old Orsay train station and it was build for the Paris Universal Exhibition in 1900. The museum currently hosts a permanent collection of western art which dates from 1848 to 1914.

Paintings, sculptures, photographs and furniture which had been previously housed in the Louvre Museum are some of the masterpieces which you will see at the Musée d’Orsay. Some of the most famous paintings in the museum are the Portrait of Madame Charpentier by Pierre-Auguste Renoir and Ta matete by Paul Gauguin.
