The Seven Bridges Jazz Festival was celebrated annually in September in Amsterdam and was held on one of the most famous bridges in Amsterdam, the Reguliersgracht Bridge, as it is the only point where you can see the famous seven bridges.

It was the only free jazz festival in the city and both old and new musicians participated in the event. Many bars hosted parties after the open-air concert.

Japanese prepare for the New Year by spring cleaning their houses and on New Year's Eve, known in Japanese as o-misoka, families meet to eat toshi-koshi soba (a noodle dish). On New Year's Eve, the watch-night bell is struck 108 times in temples all over the country. According to the Buddhist theory, humans have 108 worldly desires and so the bell is struck for each desire.

This is one of the most popular family summer events in Northern Ireland. The festival is organised and run by the Portstewart Community Association's Festival Committee. During the last week in July, the organisers plan a programme of events which are suitable for locals, tourists and children. Events and activities range from craft fairs, karaoke competitions, fancy dress parades, a battle of the bands competition and art exhibitions. To mark the end of the festival there is a fireworks display on the Saturday night.
