Quinta da Boa Vista is a park which was used as a residence by the emperor of Brazil, Boa Vista between 1822 and 1889. The present park covers around 37 acres and is formed of gardens designed by the French landscape gardener Auguste Glaziou in 1869.

Enjoy a walk in the forest area, have a look in the National Museum, or if you want a family day out, why not go to the city zoo (Jardim Zoológico) which is home to 2,100 animals from all over the world and has play areas for children, sports grounds and picnic areas.
