Avenida Corrientes
Buenos Aires

The Avenida Corrientes is the nightlife capital of Buenos Aires. The street starts at Puerto Madero and runs to Chacarita and is lined with great restaurants, cafes, theatres and bookshops. In fact, the coffee shops in this street are where Argentina Tango began and where the writers and intellectuals of the city used to meet, not to mention where the singer Carlos Gardel made his debut.

This street is home to some of the most traditional pizzerias in the city, such as Los Inmortales, the Banchero and Palacio de la Pizza and it also has the largest number of bookshops and theatres than any other street in Buenos Aires. Some of the most famous theatres are the Teatro Maipo, the Ă“pera, the Gran Rex and the Metropolitan.
