The New York Marathon is one of the most important races in the world and has around 90,000 participants each year. The main attraction of the marathon is not only the $700,000 prize, but also the chance to win in front of around two million spectators.

The very first marathon was held in 1970 and only 127 participants took part in the race which consisted of four laps of Central Park. The marathon course was changed in 1976 and from that point participants had to cross the five bridges and the finish line was in Central Park.

This marathon has been used as a symbol for others all over the world.
