Mother's Day is celebrated three weeks before Easter Sunday. This originally Christian tradition dates back to the 16th century when mothers would visit their former churches to see their children and spend time with them.
Today, the Christian origins of Mother's Day have somewhat disappeared and it is simply an opportunity for children to show appreciation for their mothers. On this day, children usually give flowers or a gift to their mothers.
