The London Marathon was an instant success when it was first inaugurated on 31 March 1981. There were around 20,000 applicants for the first race and this figure has grown to 80,500. Athletes from all over the world come to take part in this spectacular race which has become one of the most anticipated events on the city's agenda.

This race takes place throughout the whole city and is the perfect opportunity for you to see all of London's most famous monuments and attractions. It will take you on a tour from the starting line at Greenwich Park to the finish in St. Jame's Park. Get in shape and take part in the London Marathon during your visit to the city!
