Antalya Museum or Antalya Archaeological Museum
There is history in the building and the collection at the Antalya Museum. The current site showcases artefacts across millennia of human behaviour in its new building of 7000m². With only a 5th of its total collection on display at any one time, this museum is dynamic in its displays and interaction with visitors. Previously, the collection was directed to the minaret and mosque of the Yivli Minaret Mosque by a Turkish officer and historian, Süleyman Fikri Bey, who joined the occupying Italian army to prevent the Italian embassy cleaning Turkey out of all its treasures.
Here you will find halls following the progression of Turkey's rich history from pre-history through classical and roman, and halls dedicated to specialisms in mosaics, ethnography, coins and elaborate sarcophagi.
There is also a special area for little ones containing antique toys, drawings, educational media and interactive displays.
