Antalya - Travel Guide

Antalya, TurkeyAntalya, Turkey

On the South West Coast of Turkey, nestled in a bay, sits Antalya, an exotic, historic and beautiful city. Surrounded by the Taurus mountains, Antalya is a fast growing cosmopolitan mix of students, Turkish from all over the country and travellers. They enjoy the almost overwhelming choices for sightseeing, activities, eating out or just plain relaxing. With around 13 miles of beaches and coves, and almost perfect weather year round, Antalya is the site of a great abundance of scenery. These treats range from natural to the man-made, with orange groves, pine forested river valleys and scrubby mountains. These were previously inhabited by Ottomans, Seljuks, Byzantines, Greeks and Romans. The city was founded after a quest set to discover 'heaven on earth' by the Pergamum king Attalus over 2 millennia ago and named 'Attaleia' in his honour.

For lovers of city breaks, action packed drama, or child friendly fun, Antalya is sure to please. Shopaholics will relish the pleasures of market bartering. Sightseers will marvel at the relentless photo opportunities, and outdoor types have the option to Jet Ski, climb, white-water raft, hike and ski. If all that sounds a bit energetic, simply unwind as you brown yourself on a choice of sparkling beaches.
