The Temple of the Emerald Buddha is considered the most important Buddha Temple in Thailand. It is located in the historic centre of Bangkok, inside the Grand Palace and displays a sculpture of a jade Buddha which dates back to the 15th century.
The statue sits on top of a platform and is dressed in different outfits throughout the year. It has a suit which it wears to celebrate important rituals in the presence of the King of Thailand which is said to bring luck to the whole country.
This temple is decorated with statues and pagodas and there are guided tours of the temple in English which explain the history of the building.
