One of the most famous beaches in Sydney is Bondi Beach which is just over half a mile of golden sand, waves, surfers and sun. It is one of the most popular beaches in Sydney with around 40,000 visitors each summer, which means that finding a space on the beach can sometimes be difficult. Luckily, there are other attractions as the seafront continues for about four miles with ice cream parlours, coffee shops, restaurants, entertainment venues and shops.

Feel like a real Australian at Bondi Beach and learn to surf, play volleyball or do sports such as cycling or rollerblading. The average temperature of the water is around 21C, but if you don't like the waves you can go for a swim in the salt water swimming pools which surround Coogee Beach.

Beaches in Barcelona

Barcelona is an excellent place to go if you want a city break as well as a place to enjoy the sun. For this reason the number of visitors increases considerably during the summer months as it is a city which not only offers lots of sights to see and the chance to shop, but also long sandy beaches. There are six main beaches in Barcelona: Sant Sebastià, Barceloneta, Nova Icaria, Bogatell, Mar Bella and Nova Mar Bella.

Mar Bella and Sant Sebastià beaches both have nudist areas and all the beaches in Barcelona have a Red Cross team ready on hand which is reassuring if you are travelling with young children. There are also toilet facilities, bars, restaurants and kiosks where you can get a refreshing drink during the day or enjoy a romantic meal with a sea view by night. However, if you prefer to escape the city, you can visit some of the other beaches along the coast, such as Sitges or the Costa Brava.

The beaches in the city are cleaned three times a day during the summer months and there are lifeguards and water fountains which will keep you hydrated during the heat of the summer days. Lots of people also enjoy doing sport on the beaches, such as volleyball or perhaps surfing on the windier days.
