Switzerland is a landlocked country in Western Europe which is renowned as a summer and winter sports paradise with its Alpine peaks and huge lakes. With a population of around 7.7 million, Switzerland has cities which have been ranked as having the highest standards of living in the world, and it is also one of the richest countries in the world per GDP.

Switzerland is bordered by Germany, France, Italy, Austria and Liechtenstein, and it is a multilingual country with three official languages: French, German and Italian. This country gives tourists a sample of three European countries in one.

Geneva is Switzerland’s most cosmopolitan city and it is home to Europe’s largest Alpine lake. This is one of the most expensive cities in the world and it is packed with luxury hotels, boutiques, international organisations such as the UN, ILO and the World Health Organisation, and upmarket restaurants.

Zurich is the financial capital of Switzerland and it is where you can relax by the shores of the lake located in the centre. For culture, history, art and nightlife visit Lausanne which is home to Switzerland’s largest Gothic cathedral and has lots of museums. For winter sporting adventures such as skiing, snowboarding and mountaineering, take a break in Zermatt, St. Moritz or Interlaken.
