The amusement park, Parque de Atracciones de Madrid, was founded in 1969 and currently has over 40 attractions and is divided into five themed areas. Maquinismo is the area which has the main rides, extreme roller-coasters and attractions.

There is also Zona de la tranquilidad, an area which is meant to be based on tranquillity and so the attractions are not as noisy as in the other areas. There is a children's playground with attractions, a theatre, rest areas and in addition to the rides, there are a variety of street parades, restaurants and shops.
