Plaza Mayor
Madrid

If you are visiting Madrid during the festive season, make sure you take a walk through Plaza Mayor, the most famous square in the city. This is where you will see one of the most popular events of the Christmas Calendar in Madrid.

Every year at the end of November around 100 stalls are set up in Plaza Mayor square. The Christmas stalls are open from Monday until Thursday from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m., and Friday to Sunday from 10 a.m. until 11 p.m. This is were the locals come to buy their Christmas decorations, Christmas trees, nativity scenes, tinsel etc. One thing to look out for are the “Christmas in Madrid” posters designed by Delia Piccirili. You will probably see them decorating the stalls. The stalls run until 31 December.
