Maspalomas is the main tourist area in Gran Canaria. It is located in the south of the island in the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana and it includes various beach resorts such as Águila, La Burras, San Agustín and Playa del Inglés.

Some of the most significant tourist attractions in Maspalomas are the famous sand dunes which separate Maspalomas resort from Playa del Inglés. These dunes measure 7.5 miles long and cover around 988 acres of land, and were declared a natural reserve in 1987. Maspalomas Lighthouse "El Faro" is another popular site which was built in 1886 and measures 68m high. Or if you are on a family holiday with kids, take them to see La Charca bird reserve and lagoon.

Maspalomas not only offers cultural and historical attractions, but also lots of sun, sea, sand, restaurants, bars and entertainment. This is also were you will find Aqualand which is the biggest water park on the island, as well as other theme parks such as Holiday World, Palmitos Park, Sioux City and Mundo Aborigen.
