Gran Canaria is a small volcanic island located in the Atlantic Ocean which forms part of The Canary Islands. It is the island's diversity which gained it the nickname "miniature continent," as it has a rich landscape and the climate varies from north to south, and from east to west.

The capital of the island is Las Palmas de Gran Canaria which was founded and named "Real de las Palmas" on 24 June 1478 by Juan Rejón. This city is a cultural cocktail with a dynamic and lively nightlife which attracts thousands of tourists each year.

In the south of the island is Maspalomas which is probably the most popular tourist destination on the island, with its beautiful beaches, lagoon and famous nightlife. If you are looking for sun, sea, sand and adventure, this is the place to go.
