Italian Lake District

The Italian Lake District Region is a fantastic place to spend your holidays with its shimmering lakes, snow-capped mountains, peace and tranquillity and picturesque villages. Whether it is the natural beauty, luxury hotels and villas or the thought of adventure, the Italian Lake District is the place to go if there is more to life than fashion and shopping.

The main lakes are Lake Maggiore, Lake Como and Lake Garda.

Lake Maggiore is located between Switzerland and Italy and the area enjoys a Mediterranean climate with warm summers and mild winters. There are various towns and villages on the lake, with wonderful gardens, villas and palaces. Some of the best views of the Borromean Islands are from Stresa, a small town on the banks of the lake.

Lake Como is the deepest of the Italian lakes, but smaller than Lake Maggiore. Como village will charm you with its Renaissance Cathedral and its 16th century remains. From this area, you can depart on a cruise to the magnificent Melzi and Carlotta Villas and the Italian gardens. You will love Varenna, a town in Bellagio and Piona Abbey.

Lake Garda is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Italy with lots of hotels and holiday resorts on the lake shores. It is the largest lake in the country and is located between Milan and Venice. Hill walkers fall in love with the area as it has rich natural vegetation with orange and olive groves.
