Nightlife in Bali

Apache Reggae Bar

A laid-back Jamaican vibe in the heart of the Bali club scene.

Head to Apache if you'd like a late night with some Jamaican beats. This Bali reggae bar is ever popular and gets packed quickly. There is a large dancefloor area and plenty of seating with ambient, intimate lighting. Local and imported beers and Caribbean spirits can be found here. Expect reggae and dub mixed in with a few favourites. There is live music playing every night and this party doesn't stop swinging until the early hours of the morning.

Bacio has become the place to be seen with the beautiful people.

This club possibly holds the record for 'most disco balls in one place'! The interior of this upmarket club is truly original and very comfortable. The DJs play music across the genres every night and late into the night. For those of you looking for a bit of a break from the frantic pace, you will be happy here at one of the "over 22s" bars which require smart-casual dress code.

You can hire rooms for your function if you want somewhere really funky to impress your guests. Bacio's classy cocktails, tasty tapas and groovy tunes are available from 7 p.m. until 3 a.m., every day except Sundays.

This nightclub doesn't get going until 2 a.m. and keeps going as long as you do! The DJs at this bowling alley have their fingers on the pulse of everything that will get you grooving. Underground tribal beats, through to progressive trance, pound out of the speakers to a cheerful crowd of revellers.

Only the best resident DJs and international stars play at this legendary bar.

This bar attracts the late night Bali party crowds. They come for the quality of the company and the music. DJs such as John Digweed, Tiesto and Pete Tong have played here and special events involving the outdoor swimming pool and bungy jumping are not uncommon. The bar fronts onto the beach so you can go for a swim and play some frisbee in between trips to the bar. Double Six opens from 11 p.m. until 6 a.m. in the morning.

Hu'u manages to fuse the contemporary with nature to bring you an original place to eat and party in Bali.

If you like your cocktails, you might like to take a look at the 80+ on offer here. The house special is the lychee martini. If you are still not sure what to have, one of the "mixologists" will invent you a delicious one-off for you, right in front of your eyes. The spring water swimming pool, cheap drinks and house DJ nights, set Hu'u Bar off as somewhere a bit special to spend your evenings.

Renowned for its live acts and laid back atmosphere, Jazz Café Bali is out of the main party district, and a good place to relax for the "grown ups". They have locally-based and guest band live music every night and opportunities to join in and have a jam. A menu full of Asian and European favourites will complement your choice of beer or cocktails nicely.

M-Ba-Go

Get your urban groove on at M-Ba-Go: the liveliest hip-hop club in Bali.

There are two floors at this loud and lively club. Expect to hear the latest tunes from rappers and R&B artists with a few anthems thrown in. The drinks on offer here are strong and relatively cheap, and include beers, spirits and cocktails.

There is a co-club called Bar M on the same site. From 10.30 p.m. onwards, this area is only open to the over 25s. Opening times for the whole club are as follows:

Thursday  9 p.m. - 1 a.m.
Friday      8 p.m. - 2 a.m.
Saturday  1 p.m. - 2 a.m.

Mama's German restaurant and bar provides a place for travellers to swap stories.

If you are by yourself and looking to make some new friends, or you already have your party, this is a great place to stop for an international get together. Mama's is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so you can drop by any time of day for anything from a coffee to a Vienna Schnitzel and a European-sized draught beer. The meat is provided by the company's very own butcher, which also supplies meat of the highest standard to many of the internationally known supermarkets established on the island.

In short, for a good time and some high quality food, drop by Mama's Bar.

Sharky's has a lazy beachside sports bar and a filling men....

If you feel the need to eat something a bit more familiar, this place does some chunky ribs and burgers with plenty of sides to choose from, and cold beers to wash it down with. For the more adventurous, local options such as Mi Goreng are available too. This place is popular with locals, surfers and people passing through. If you need to get your sports fix, there are plenty of showings of all the big events on the 6 TVs. This Bali sports bar opens around 4 p.m. and goes on until late.

Zigiz Bar

In the quieter areas of the North Coast, there are still places to meet up and party. Zigis offers a mind-boggling selection of cocktails, a colourful and spacious interior, and plenty of bands and locals who love nothing more than to entertain. Visitors are free to join in, or relax on the balcony on the plush, cushion-filled seats. The bar opens at 4 p.m. and shows lots of sport before the music starts at around 9 p.m. The bar is open until the early hours.
