Holi Festival 2014 : Monday 17 March

Holi Festival is a colourful event held in India on Phalgun Purnima at the end of February or in March. This festival has been a long tradition in the country and is believed to be a celebration of good over evil.

Preparation for the festival usually starts a few weeks prior to the event and the night before, Holi eve, many people light bonfires and paint their faces with gulal and abeer which are pink and white powders. On Holi day, people hug and wish each other a Happy Holi and there is lots of singing and dancing.

Holi announces the arrival of the spring and it is a festival for everyone, even tourists.
