Diwali or the Light Festival is one of the most popular events in India which is held every year between October and November and celebrates the victory of good over bad, and light over darkness. It is one of the liveliest, happiest times of the year and is celebrated with fireworks displays, bangers and the lighting of candles.

Many gods are celebrated and worshipped during Diwali, such as Shri Lakshmi, the god of Vishnu who grants prosperity and riches, as well as the god of Kali, and the god of Gandesha.

Food is also an important element of the celebrations and is usually prepared using the most elaborate recipes and products. Other traditions include making gifts, and cleaning and decorating the house.
