Prague Spring International Music Festival is one of the most popular annual events held in the city during May. Concerts and operas involving various different international artists are some of the performances included in this musical festival which lasts about a month.
The event was founded in 1946, shortly after the Second World War and the performances are held in various buildings throughout the city such as the National Theatre, the Church of Our Lady before Týn and the Vysehrad Cemetery. The opening ceremony is traditionally held in the Municipal Hall in the city.
The Prague International Music Competition for young artists is usually takes place at the same time as the festival.
