Toronto International Film Festival 2014 : 4-14 September

The Toronto International Film Festival is held every September and is attended by all the top international film stars. It is a competition which was inaugurated in 1976 and initially it presented the best films from other festivals. However, over the years it has become a very important event where the best international films compete.

Around 300 to 400 films are judged each year at the festival, all of which come from over 50 different countries and are projected on around 23 cinema screens. The event is held in the area around Bay Street and Bloor Street in the city centre where there are lots of multiplex cinemas and luxury hotels.

Two new programs where introduced to the event in 2001, Canada First which is a forum for national directors and Short Cuts Canada presenting Canadian short films.
